There is one question that seems to ring at the back of our minds when we’re not doing what we should be doing: why isn’t this easier than what I enjoy doing? Why’s it so easy to spend hours texting and scrolling through posts on social media but not have time to do some cleaning and other house chores?
It always easier to just make excuses disguised as reasons and go in denial. But once you come to the realization that the house won’t clean itself – gosh, how we wish – you just may be able to pick yourself up and do it.
There are various reasons homeowners won’t want to get into the chore of cleaning their homes. We’re going to be looking at five of them.
I say ignorance? For a home to get dirty, it’s a slow and steady gradual process. That’s why it’s easy for some homeowners to become completely ignorant of how dirty their home has become. They’ve gotten so used to the process that they probably don’t even see it. That’s why it might take a visit from a guest before they see how low on the scale their homes have gotten and by then it too late. You don’t want this sort of embarrassment in your life, do you? I think not. So before you get comfy and start doing that thing you like, make yourself look around your home and ask, do I want someone to see my house like this? If your answer is no, then you have work to do.
Oh this by far the easiest thing to do, ever! Not just for home cleaning, but other tasks as well. Most people of not all are guilty of this, I’m guilty myself. Let me confess, I’d pushed off writing this very blog you’re reading by a day, not for very good reasons I’m afraid. The internet and our smartphones are the primary reasons we procrastinate. If you really want to get something done, say like cleaning your house, best turn of your Wi-Fi and keep your phone as far from you as possible. The temptation is too strong.
It’s easier to just push stuff to one side and get on with your business, why not? That’s one easy way out. But when you keep that up, you’ll be surprised at the mound and heap of disarray you’re going to get at the end of the day. When you suddenly decide to clean up, you’ll see how easy the motivation seeps out of your body when you look around the clutter you’ve generated.
Earlier in the day, you told yourself you were going to finish those chores, little did you know you were lying to yourself. Those chores were never done because something else came up, something important that demanded your attention. The trick to getting things done quickly and at the right time is to start it immediately it comes to mind. “I have to clean the house”, do it that moment, once “later” pops into your head in then, you might as well have not thought about it at all.
No one likes to be branded lazy but that’s the truth of it. Laziness is possibly the primary reason why homeowners don’t clean their homes. We just want to lie in bed a little bit longer, we just want to watch TV a little more, we just want to play the game a little while longer. A little bit more of what we want to do and we won’t do what we have to do. Remember, what you have to do won’t get themselves done.
Try to motivate yourself to clean your home at the right time. There’s a certain satisfaction that you’ll derive from finally getting it done.
