Yes, it’s fall, we’re going to be seeing a lot of colors pretty soon. Maybe it’s too early into the season to say, but I kind of feel like the heat is letting off a little and cold is not that bad. But little ways down into the season, the weather will hang right there in the balance – not too hot, not too cold either.
As the season has made a switch, it’s time to change your usual cleaning routine. Here are five cleaning tips to Have in mind this fall.
1. Clean Your Roof Gutters
As we all know, there’ll be a lot shedding this season. If your home is surrounded by trees, there’s every chance some of the leaves will find their way into your roof gutters. It’s good practice to clean your roof gutters just before fall and deep into fall. Doing this ensures your gutters are free from blockage to allow proper flow of water when it rains.
2. Pay Extra Attention to Your Kitchen Appliances
This is a good time as any to give your major kitchen appliances some good and thorough cleaning. Constant use will cause build up if grease, dirt, and grime in appliances such as your refrigerator, dishwasher, microwave ovens, and stove.
When cleaning your refrigerator, take the time to remove all its contents, everything. Wash the refrigerator with a good antibacterial agent – nothing too harsh so it doesn’t destroy your refrigerator. Ensure the contents of the refrigerator with a proper cleaning agent.
3. Clean Your Car’s Interior
Some of us do spend quite some time in our cars. We also eat and drink in the car and there’s also the dirt from our shoes that get in the car. Over time dust will also settle on the dashboard and seats. Take some time to clean the interior, paying attention to the floor, seats, windshields the glove compartment. If your glove compartment is home to lots of unnecessary and irrelevant contents, now is a good time to get rid of them. Remove stuff that has no business in your car. Don’t be tempted to hoard disposables in your car, they don’t make a pretty sight.
4. Clean and Organize Your Garage
This probably one part of the home where most people are afraid to clean. For some, the mere thought is an impossibility. If you notice space is getting to tight its hard to get your vehicle in, then it’s time for some major cleaning. You don’t necessarily have to do it in a go. Take it bit by bit and you should be done before the end of the day.
5. War on Pollen
Its easy for pollens to build up in the home in fall as we shut the windows to keep from the cold in the night. Moreover, pollens can build up in the beddings, carpets, drapes, blinds, air conditioners, and moist surfaces. To reduce the concentration of pollen in your home, you should wash all beddings, drapes, blinds, carpets and moist surfaces. For your AC’s, replace your HVAC filters.
You don’t need to wait for the season of fall to do all mentioned above. In fact, it’s good practice to indulge in them periodically.
