Are you currently patronizing the services of a maid/house cleaning service? I can’t say what your experience with them is like, but I’m guessing it’s somewhere around amazing. I mean, there are lesser chores for you to do now and more time for you. Is it making you consider tipping? Are you already tipping but you don’t know how we feel about it? Read on and see what we think from the receiving end of your tips.
When it comes to maid services, most people are interested in how much they really cost and how to exactly pick the right service (right service meaning someone reliable, who does a great job and does not end up ruining your favorite carpet or sofa). However, there are many other things that should be considered when it comes to hiring a maid service to do the cleaning up around the house.
On the one hand, people are thinking that they are already paying an hourly fee for the service. Even if it is not an hourly fee and it is a fixed price per cleaning session, the bottom line is that the persons cleaning your house are already getting paid. This is pretty much the only argument against tipping. However, you can rest assured that even if you do not tip, the cleaning technicians are still going to do their job. Otherwise, you always have the option of hiring somebody else.
The arguments that come in favor of tipping the maid service are not at all conclusive. Most people feel that if they do not tip the maid service, the cleaning technicians will end up sweeping the dirt under the rug or “forgetting” to clean the windows. Other people fell like the cleaning crew is providing a service that, like any other service, should be tipped. After all, you never go out to dinner and pay the check without tipping the waitress, do you?
Well, we have come to the conclusion that in this case, tipping is entirely up to you. You can choose to do it, or choose not to do it. Whatever feels more comfortable to you is probably the right decision. Tipping the maid service should be something that you want to do to show your appreciation for the work that they have done. If you do not feel like it, you should know that it is definitely not a requirement.
However, we feel that there are certain occasions when a little tip would actually be great. We are, of course, talking about the holidays. That is the only time of the year where tipping is customary. It is more of a gift rather than a tip and we can assure you that it is always appreciated. You should not worry about how much to tip because, in the end, the gesture is the one that counts the most.
What we’re saying in essence is, you don’t have to tip, it’s not compulsory. You’re not under any obligation whatsoever to tip. We as a maid service, however, accept tips. If you feel we’ve done so great, and you’re impressed with the services we have delivered and want to tip, by all means, tip. We fully appreciate you for appreciating our services!
